Project Description

MOCHA After-School Program

This program introduced students to the fundamentals of visual art—line, color, shape, texture and space. Students built on these basic tools through developmentally appropriate lessons using a variety of techniques, styles and media.

Typical lessons included line activities (line hunt, 3D lines, contour lines, pastel lines, and watercolor resist); color studies (color-mixing, sponge painting, self-portraits, and landscapes); exploration with shape (mixed-media collages, mask-making); texture studies (texture rubbing, texture “quilts” made from paper, clay shapes and pots); and 3D representation (construction stables, recycled art cityscapes).
