Sequoia After-School Arts Program
In 2001, artist-in-residence Debra Koppman conducted a weekly arts program for 1-2 grade students who learned how to make books such as accordion books, pop-up books, and Japanese bound books. With the help of artist Marina Li, the students displayed their works in museum-style at the Sequoia Spring Festival.
During 2002-03, artist-in-residence Julia Storrs expanded the program to include art projects. Students learned to respect their work, appreciate the creative process and use positive language to describe their artistic efforts.
The program continued to expand in 2005.
