Sharing our Stories: Exploring Identity through the Visual Arts
The program is a creative youth development-based, arts-integrated 12-week residency. Students will explore concepts of identity and community through hands-on arts learning in a variety of media from painting to ceramics as well as be introduced to works by contemporary artists.
With artwork from a variety of contemporary artists, the teaching artists will engage students in a lively discussion about identity and storytelling, study observation and analysis techniques, and guide students to create unique artworks to celebrate and unite their school community. The program will culminate with a professionally mounted, celebratory exhibition held at the community gallery at the Junior Center of Art and Science.
