During the 2025-6 school year and beyond, teaching artists Sarah Norr, Tierra Allen, and Mira Manickam-Shirley will offer weekly workshops in
multicultural street drumming to every 2nd, 4th, and 5th grade student at Manzanita SEED Elementary School. Now in its 5th year of in-school instruction at Manzanita SEED, our program teaches drum technique, ensemble playing, movement, composition and improvisation, and the creation of songs and chants. Students will also perform in their community, using music as a tool for self-expression and collective empowerment.
