AOK is grateful to announce that the Wallace and Alexander Gerbode Foundation was the very first to invest in AOK’s new Arts Justice Initiative! AOK’s Arts Justice Initiative is designed to fund consistent, weekly arts education for every student in Oakland’s most under-resourced public schools. Funding for comprehensive arts education for every student, every week in one school will cost $300,000 per year.

The Gerbode Foundation has generously invested $30,000 in the Initiative – enough to pay a teaching artist to instruct an entire grade level for a year! If you’re as excited as we are about the potential of this work, please click here to learn more. Our heartfelt thanks to the Board and Staff of the Wallace and Alexander Gerbode Foundation!

Check out our grantees!
