Board Member Logan McWilliams

Welcome to the Board Logan McWilliams!

We first met Logan McWilliams, then a Transitional Kindergarten teacher, on a site visit to the Pro Arts Early Childhood Education program AOK funded at Markham Elementary. The second we walked into her classroom full of innovative images and displays, we knew we were in for a treat.

We were so impressed with Logan’s teaching skills that we interviewed her for our mini-documentary film when she spoke eloquently about why the arts are so important. Now we are honored to announce that Logan has joined AOK as our newest Board Director!

Logan, a true Oaktown native, attended all Oakland public schools. She has been involved in performing arts since elementary school and is now a seasoned singer. As a lead teacher in the Oakland Unified School District for 7 years, Logan has earned several accolades, including being honored by KRON 4 on National Teacher Appreciation Day. Logan also enjoys reading, traveling, and shopping. A strong community leader, she was one of the main organizers behind the recent BBQ While Black event.

When asked to sum up why she chose to join the AOK Board, Logan said, “Art belongs in school PERIOD.” We couldn’t agree more. Welcome, Logan!
